Sony's Mobile ES line has a new flagship amplifier series combining a high-efficiency class-D output stage with on-board DSP — 31-band parametric EQ per channel and automatic time alignment using a calibration microphone.

The pitch is consolidation: installers who previously needed a separate processor and amplifier can now run both functions from one chassis, simplifying wiring and reducing the number of components that need tuning.

For tuning purposes, the on-board auto time-alignment is a starting point, not a finish line — it gets distances close using the mic, but a manual pass against a real measurement (checking phase coherence between drivers) typically still improves the result.
