Dirac Live's Bass Control module, which independently optimizes the output of multiple subwoofers below the crossover point, is being licensed to a wider range of AVR and processor manufacturers this year. Previously the feature was mostly reserved for flagship and prosumer products.
Bass Control works by measuring each subwoofer individually, then computing a blend that targets flat, even bass response across more of the room — not just at one seat. This addresses one of the most common complaints in home theater: bass that's great in one chair and boomy or thin two feet away.
If your receiver gets this update, the practical change is in setup: you'll be prompted to measure subs individually rather than as a group. Plan for a slightly longer calibration run, and make sure your measurement mic is positioned consistently across passes.
This is a good moment to revisit your own Fs, group delay, and in-room curve measurements before and after recalibrating — the comparison will show you exactly what the new algorithm changed.
